Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's strongman who will most likely be tried for crimes against humanity when he steps down from power has been promised a safe haven in Malaysia according to a Zimbabwe report.

Robert Mugabe who stands accused of commiting genocide against his own people has been rumoured to have stashed some of his loot in Malaysia banks. In fact, a decade or so ago, rumours were rife among expats in KL that Mugabe, through some members of his family had been buying prime condo flats in KL and in other areas of Peninsula Malaysia.

According to the Zimbabwe on line radio, "Current Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak seems to have confirmed the preparedness of Malaysia to offer Mugabe sanctuary after he invited Mugabe and Sudanese leader Omar Al-Bahsir for the yearly Langkawi International Dialogue (LID) two years ago.

Najib was supposed to have argued, "We are not yet a member of the Statute of Rome."

Which prompted a regular commenter in the Philippine Sabah Claim Forum to remark, "Seems if you want to be part of the Malaysia club these days, you need to commit a genocide or two."

Kuala Lumpur is also a strong destination of choice for Mugabe and his young family, in the likely event that Zimbabwe descends into political anarchy after the pending June elections, or should civil mayhem reign supreme if the 89 year old decides to leave office.
“Your leader (Mugabe) can permanently locate to Malaysia because he has a home here,” said a reporter with Malaysiakini, a leading political news website.
“It’s no secret that he is ever welcome to stay, because he is a good friend of the political establishment. Apart from that his family also has business interests not only in Malaysia, but across the continent.”
Nehanda Radio has learnt following a lead from media colleagues in Malaysia that, Mugabe and his wife Grace own a hideous multi-million dollar mansion in Malaysia, which he purchased in cash in 2004.

Although the Malaysiakini fails to give the financial costs and full details of the villa, we have been told it has gobbled up £2,4m of the battered tax-payer money in Zimbabwe.
The price tag in Malaysian Ringgit was 12 million, which according to the XE Currency converter, converts to US$3,8m money which can be used to import substantial amounts of fuel for the economy, medical equipment for hospitals, or water treatment chemicals to make available clean drinking water in Harare and across the municipalities of the country.
“Mugabe’s luxurious mansion is located in Bukit Tunku in Kaula Lumpur, that is what we all know but none of us has been invited there,” said a diplomatic staffer at the Zimbabwean Embassy.
“The mansion we have established was bought for 12 million Malaysian Ringgit. Bukit Tunku is one of the most expensive elite residential areas here, most of the home owners are senior ministers, businessmen and royalties.”
Bukit Tunku is famed for being the Beverly Hills of Malaysia, and is somewhat similar to Harare’s posh Borrowdale Brooke enclave housing the country’s powerful elites, where residents share almost the same address but with different house numbers and unique security provisions.
Mugabe in fact has his capital residence next to Borrowdale Brooke, which has been sealed as a high security zone and no go area.
The Zanu PF leader’s mysterious mansion has been a tight-lipped secret for years now, but sources in Malaysia say he is planning to make the Far East his second home, although he has confided with his inner circle of the desire to be buried home when he dies.
It has also come to light that the Mugabes are always visiting their Asian home regularly, especially during Christmas holidays and the many medical trips which Mugabe has been taking lately to cure postrate cancer and an eye cataract in Singapore and Malaysia.
The ailing leader and his wife are also regular attendees of the Langkawi International Dialogue business forum, and in healthier times they both frequented The Malaysian Grand Prix Formula One games at the Sepang International Circuit.
Other grounds which have been cited for Mugabe’s possible move to Kaula Lumpar include: “His sensitive medical condition, family businesses and investments in numerous Asian countries, and more importantly the safety of family members in a post era of his rule.

Mugabe’s daughter Bona, is studying for a masters degree in Hong Kong, and her siblings are likely to pursue studies here in Asia,” Malaysian sources said.
Ironically, Mugabe also has a Malaysian doctor, Mahmood Awang Kechik, a urologist who works as his physician and business advisor. Awang Kechik has been instrumental in keeping Mugabe’s health in check. The doctor reportedly had oversight of the despised statesman’s cancer treatment in Malaysia recently.
This is not the first time Malaysia has been caught up in controversy, in 2004 former prime minister Mahathir Mohammed, a close friend of Mugabe donated timber worth RM100 000, about £20 000 for the panelling of his headquarter mansion in Harare. The 44 acre landscaped mansion has 25 rooms, a state of the art radar system and is clad with Chinese-style roofing.
Mugabe can be assured of a safe haven in Malaysia, and financial security following the informal residence in that country of one of his under-cover bankers Enoch Kamushinda, a former chief executive of Metropolitan Bank of Zimbabwe who now manages several business portfolios in Malaysia on behave of the Mugabe family.
The Mugabe’s have also reportedly acquired a £4m mansion in Hong Kong, but have defused the allegations as unfounded, maintaining that the property is being rented for Bona.
Current Malaysian Prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, seems to have confirmed the preparedness of his country to offer Mugabe a sanctuary, after he invited Mugabe and Sudanese leader Omar Al-Bashir for the yearly Langkawi International Dialogue (LID) two years ago, arguing that:
“We are not yet a member of the Statute of Rome.”
The Rome Statute, is a global treaty governing against war crimes, genocide, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression. Mugabe and Al-Bashir both stand accused of gross crimes against humanity, with the latter being a wanted man by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes in his country.

REPORT: 1,000 fighters slip into SabahBy Perseus Echeminada (The Philippine Star) | Updated April 8, 2013 - 12:00am 

MANILA, Philippines - An additional 1,000 armed men from Tawi-Tawi and Sulu have slipped into Sabah and joined the followers of Agbimuddin Kiram to fight Malaysian security forces, a source from the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) said yesterday. 

The source said the armed men arrived in small groups to evade the Philippine and Malaysian naval blockade. 

MNLF spokesman Emmanuel Fontanilla confirmed thousands of Tausugs has began preparing since the outbreak of hostilities between the royal sultanate army of Kiram and Malaysian forces. 

“As per information, the armed men arrived in small batches,” he said. 

It was not known, however, if the armed men joined the fighting in Lahad Datu but last week the sultanate of Sulu said at least 100 heavily armed men have rejoined the group of Kiram on the outskirts of town. 

It was learned that the 100 men were now part of the 1,000 armed followers that joined Kiram, also known as raja muda or crown prince, in various parts of Sabah.

Sultanate spokesman Abraham Idjirani last week revealed Kiram had called him up to report that new arrivals joined his group in the ongoing battle with Malaysian forces in Lahad Datu.

Some of the lies Kuala Lumpur shamelessly propagate

Some of the lies that Kuala Lumpur officials deliberately propagate to Peninsular Malaysia youth which, if we do not put a stop to, will be historical fantasies that Sabahan youth will be believing: 

(1) that Malaya fought for its independence from the Brits which is total hogwash! The Malayans did not want to be independent -- they were so fearful of being left with the Chinese in Malaya, they wanted the Brits to stay and play nanny to them. But the Brits said, "You are going to have your independence whether you like it or not in 1957."

(2) Kuala Lumpur officials continue to spread the fallacy that MALAYSIA gained their independence from the British in 1963 which is total hogwash. MALAYSIA was created in 1963 by "federating" Malaya Federation (Peninsular Malaysia whose capital today is Kuala Lumpur), Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah so how could the Brits grant MALAYSIA Independence when it was only created in September 1963. Furthermore, the Brits had technically and very officially not ruled Malaya Federation since 1957! 

In picture: this is the normal picture they propagate around in Kuala Lumpur and in all the places in Peninsular Malaysia... Just look at the date: celebrating the 53rd anniversary of the "Independence of Malaysia" in 2010 which to them meant that that Malaysia was formed in 1957 which is absolutely not true! Malaysia did NOT EXIST in 1957...Malaysia was only created in 1963. Besides, MALAYSIA was never ruled by the British because the British had technically not ruled Peninsular Malaysia since 1957. The Malaysians are living a lie and are forcing the Sabahans to live the same lie! Sabah was a separate British colony from the Malaya Federation and had nothing to do with Kuala Lumpur until 31st August 1963. The Malaysians are propagating a lie and are confusing their own people which means they are absolutely confused about Sabah too!

(3) that Malayans were responsible for the defeat of communists in Peninsular Malaysia which is an utter, total hogwash. It was the Brits led by General Gerald Templar along with the Aussies, the Indian recruits and the Gurkhas who fought and defeated Communist insurgents in Malaya! The bone-idle Malayans could not be trusted to fight with the Brits. Half the time, local Malayan intel was rubbish... Oh, yes, the Malayans carried the bags and drove for the fighting soldiers of the combined British Commonwealth but doing the fighting? No way. In fact, a senior British military officer said the Malayan SOB recruits were "a total waste of precious meagre rations."

(4) that Malayans fought the Indonesians in what has been known as the Konfrontasi, the low-intensity armed conflict over Sarawak which took place 1962-1966; complete, utter hogwash! The Malayans did not do bloody anything! It was the Brits, the Aussies, the New Zealanders, the Gurkhas, the Indian recruits who fought the Indonesians during the Konfrontasi years! Where were the Malayans? Twisting their bone idle bodies, doing nothing, incapable of lifting their backsides even if it meant their very own survival!

(5) that North Borneo (Sabah) was included in the Malaya Federation which was given independence by the British. A complete fabrication which must be told Sabahans.

MALAYSIA only began to exist 50 years ago or on 16 September 1963 long after the British colonials terminated their official colonial hold on that stupid peninsula which has Kuala Lumpur for a capital. A remarkable and consistent Aquino clan tradition of disdain for the Republic's Sabah claim

When Mrs Cory Aquino became president of the Philippines following the fall of President Marcos in 1986, she tried hard to convince the royal Kirams of the Sultanate of Sulu, acknowledged heirs to North Borneo (Sabah) to drop their proprietary claims to Sabah. 

We think that was a tack she chose to be able to convince Congress to drop PH sovereignty rights claim to Sabah. However, popular as she might be then, Mrs Aquino encountered strong resistance from the public and from the members of Congress. With that for a backdrop in 1987, the PH government was unable to officially drop the country's long standing Sabah claim despite Mrs Aquino's efforts.

The disdain for the nation's Sabah claim, it seems, has been a remarkable and consistent tradition in the Aquino clan. 

In 1963, Senator Lorenzo Sumulong, uncle of Mrs Cory Aquino, himself rose against the Republic's move to put forward its Sabah claim by openly siding with the British and publicly praising the vision of Malaya's then prime minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman. Sumulong ridiculed the efforts of then President Diosdado Macapagal and Senator Jovito Salonga, the country's Sabah claim champion.

In 1968, Mrs Aquino's husband, Senator Benigno Aquino Jr, exposed Operation Merdeka by sensationalising it as the 'Jabiddah Massacre'. Operation Merdeka, in fact, was the first physical attempt by the Republic to take Sabah back. Following Mr Aquino's denunciation of the covert operation, Kuala Lumpur began to finance and support the separatist movement by the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) that saw the secession wars in Mindanao for many decades.

There have been revelations recently too that Senator Ninoy Aquino had actually sought Malaysia PM Mahathir before his return to PH from exile to the effect that in exchange for Malaysia support for toppling President Marcos,  Mr Aquino (the father) would be president and once he became president, he vowed to the Malaysian leader that PH would officially drop the Sabah claim. 

In February 2013, Mrs Aquino's own son, Noynoy, himself elected to the Philippine presidency, has been doing all he can for the Philippine Sabah claim to be dropped even it it means 'cavorting' with Kuala Lumpur and sacrificing the Tausugs of Sulu who are being wiped out in Sabah by foreign military troops. In keeping with family tradition of disdain for the Philippine Sabah claim, and even as Filipino Tausugs are being slaughtered by Malaysia troops under orders of Najib Razak, President NoyNoy Aquino asks, "But what do you want me to do?"

Setting the record straight: Malaysian armies were very backward in the 70s; did not have the capability to train the MNLF

Last month, almost to the day, Hadji Acmad Bayam, former chief propagandist of the MNLF, revealed that MNLF forces joined the Kiram fighters in Sabah which would force Malaysian security forces to face 'battle-tested' Libya-trained MNLF forces (and not Malaysian-trained as Manila Bulletin report said -- see 'nota bene'). 

Back in the 70s, the MNLF were onto a secession war with PH thanks to support of Kuala Lumpur politicians who began funding rebellion wars in Midnanao during the time of Tunku Abdul Razak, father of current Malaysia PM Najib Razak). 

NOTA BENE:

It is imperative to understand that Malaysian armies at the time still were very backward and did not have the capability to train the MNLF.

The modernisation of Malaysia's armies, including their training, only kicked in when Prime Minister Mahathir came into the picture. They themselves got delivery of their first really modernised defence kits only in the early 80s.

So we beg to disagree with Manila Bulletin report* which highlighted that MNLF forces were trained by Malaysian armies back in the 70s. THIS IS NOT QUITE RIGHT! The MNLF forces were trained in large part by Libya's forces back in the 70s. 

The Malaysians did fund the MNLF (and later, the MILF), supplied them with weapons cache and allowed them to train in Sabah -- as war against PH by proxy -- but Malaysian military DID NOT TRAIN the MNLF because Malaysian militarydid not have the capability to do that in the late 60s and the early 70s.

In fact, the Malaysian military at that time was so backward that PH military could have defeated them even with one hand tied behind their back back then. 

French secret service back in the 70s provided Ph with intel that Gaddafi forces were training PH Islamic secessionists right in Sabah complete with picture evidence submitted to Malacanang at the time. 

Up to the 90s, French secret service had been submitting reports to successive PH govts in place -- in fact, up to the time of the Estrada Administration -- that Filipino Muslim secessionists had also been training in Afghanistan and that some had fought under the Northern Alliance armies commanded by Ahmad Shah Massoud, the Lion of Panjshir who were then fighting the Soviets. (Massoud was killed by Al Qaeda just before 9/11.)
