Tradition often has its roots in superstition or whatever the modern historians may call it. In Chinese lore, it is said that when the dead leaves his world with unfinished business, his ghost will come back to hound and torment the living until that business is completed.

In Sulu, they have either inherited that lore from their Chinese trading partners back in the 1st century, or the Chinese incorporated it into theirs. Nevertheless, Sulu today, is the best kept secret for talismans for every intention related to war and conflict.

No Sulu warrior, fisherman, traveler, or father, ventures into the unknown without a talisman, an amulet, an object of "great power" to keep them alive, invisible, successful, or free from harm. I cannot reveal these objects entirely for they are plentiful and subject to individualized creations. But I can assure the reader, that they are rumored to be more potent than anything Siquijor, Africa, the Amazon or the Andes produce. Sometimes, a talisman maker will roam the jungles or search the seas for days meditating on the conflict and looking for the right talisman.

It is rumored, that Aghbimuddin is in possession of a talisman so powerful that it makes him invisible in war and protects him from harm. Therefore, if he is killed, his ghost will roam to torment his foes in Sabah for however long it will take to finish business. It will not be surprising to find him in possession of other talismans that jungle and water people make for him alone.

The bodies dug up in Lahad Datu that were left to rot in the open pit, supposedly had amulets on them. Additionally, Police have collected amulets from their other dead victims. Not only is it forbidden to detach these amulets from the dead, it carries the same punishment for the killer(s).

After the March 1 attack, Malaysian news reported certain Police claiming the RSF are not true Moslems because they practice some form of "black magic" with their amulets, thereby making it easier on the conscience that Moslems have killed RSF Moslems.

Whatever the power of these talismans, an unaccountable number of Tausugs are counting on the their talismans to work Karma through the enemy Chameleon. Their ghosts will haunt the bloody lands until their enemy's inner Macbeth will have that soliloquy in front of the mirror with the blood dripping from the knife or the barrel of the gun!

STOP THE KILLING. IT IS ONLY LAND, ONLY OIL, ONLY TITLES AND EGOS. SHARE IT.
